Aarno Palotie
The Palotie group works on gene mapping and identification of predisposing gene variants in complex traits. In this project the focus will be on multiple sclerosis. The Palotie group and the Finnish Genome Center will contribute:

(1) on multiallelic and SNP genotyping using their high throughput platforms (Megabace instruments for microsatellites and Sequenom for SNPs) and

(2) to provide most up to date statistical genetics tools. Key figures in providing new computational tools are adjunct faculty members of the Finnish Genome Center, Dr. Kenneth Lange and Dr. Joe Terwilliger and through collaborations the Director of the Helsinki Institute of Information Technology, Dr. Heikki Mannila.
